Camp Directors

Co-director of the USA "JR Select" Early Exposure Camp is Richard Skaggs. Richard has coaching experience at every level of basketball. His background in high school as well as major college basketball gives him a feel as to what basketball players are looking for in a summer camp. A veteran of 14 years as a high school coach, five years as an assistant coach in charge of recruiting at the Division I level and three years as a head college coach, Richard adds to the camp not only knowledge of the game but an understanding of what college recruiting is all about. He also holds a master's degree in guidance and counseling which is helpful in directing and understanding aspiring young athletes.
 

Co-directing the USA "JR Select" Early Exposure Camp is Dave Smith, the head women's basketball coach at Bellarmine University in Louisville, KY. A 20-year head coaching veteran with a .721 winning percentage. His 1996 Shippensburg University team were NCAA Division II National Finalists finishing 2nd in the Nation. He has the distinction of being the only coach to lead two schools to the Div. II Elite Eight, having also done so at St. Joseph's College in Indiana in 1988 and 1989. Coach Smith is also the only coach to be selected at the Converse Coach of the Year in Two districts. In District IV in 1989 & 1990 and in District II in 1996. Smith is the NCAA Division II Representative to the Board of Directors of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.

As co-director of the USA "JR Select" Early Exposure Camp, Coach Smith will bring not only a wealth of experience and expertise to the camp, but that same winning attitude and work ethics that he instills in his own players. We are very fortunate to have someone of Dave's caliber be a part of this exciting opportunity.
